We were blessed yesterday to be given time and attention from two servants of the Lord, both from Brazil, just two days before Kenzie leaves to serve among their people. Elder Ulisses Soares, ulisses__soares an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ, and Elder Barcellos, rbarcellos of the Seventy.

They poured their love and witness into Kenzie and our family. They spoke of the culture and people of Brazil, and Elder Barcellos shared about his daughter being on her mission and being the happiest she’s ever been.

Elder Soares shared, “When you get into the country there will be things you don’t expect. But there will be things that exceed your expectations.” Focus on the positives and the joyful culture of Brazil. Those who come are welcomed and valued. She will be loved.

They spoke of the foundation this will build for the rest of her life. She will learn the importance of relying on the Spirit as she makes important decisions. You plan and organize and do everything possible, and then you rely on the Spirit to guide you through.

Elder Barcellos shared, “The mission will prepare you for everything. It is an opportunity to become the version of yourself the Lord wants and needs you to be. But it comes with a price. Focus everything on the Savior and on others. If you do, you will be happy. The happiest are those who lose themselves in the work.”

“Above all, focus on the Savior. That is the reason you are going on a mission. He is the message and the answer for everything in our lives. People will see the Savior through you,” Elder Soares shared.

After Elder Soares bore his witness, he asked Hallie what she would add. She shared that when we look to the Savior in everything, we will find Him in everything. What a sacred moment to share personal witness alongside two servants of the Lord.

We are so grateful for their witness, their love, and their counsel.

It is time to pay the price, go all in, and focus completely on the Lord. As Kenzie does this in the mission field, we commit to do the same at home.

What a blessing to be disciples of Jesus Christ.
