Sometimes God teaches us most clearly by contrast.

We saw and experienced some inspiring things in Thailand, but when we asked the question to our kids and ourselves at the end of the trip, what was the highlight, everyone unanimously said worshiping in our church’s Bangkok Temple.

One step out of the noise and into His presence teaches and inspires us in incredible and powerful ways. The louder the world becomes, the more sacred the quiet of the Lord feels.

Walking off one of the busiest streets in a city of 13 million people and into the quiet, sacred house of the Lord was a contrast we will never forget.

In the temple we met young missionaries, all from China, all preparing to serve in Australia. Their faith was simple, pure, and powerful. Their excitement to be in and learn within the walls of the temple was moving. At one point I looked at Beckham as we watched these young missionaries and he said, “this is cool.” I knew he was feeling what I was feeling. Some of these young missionaries were worshiping in the temple for the first time. Their joy was contagious.

We watched a sister from India weep in her worship, so grateful for the blessing of the temple in her life. We met one of the most joyful men I’ve ever met who was there with his wife from Singapore. They met the missionaries from our church this year, fell in love with the gospel of Jesus Christ, and had traveled far to be in this sacred House of the Lord.

In our faith we believe in the literal gathering of Israel in these latter days. During this experience in the temple I felt God’s love for ALL of His children from Brazil, South Africa, France, Germany, Argentina, Mexico, China, the Netherlands, the USA, Thailand, Canada, and on and on. His work and His glory is about gathering us in and gathering us home through the greatest representation of His love, His Son, Jesus Christ.

The gathering of Israel is real. It is alive. It is global. And it is the greatest work on the earth. God knows ALL of His children and loves ALL of His children. I am in awe at all He is and all He does.
