What a week for our family, and especially for our daughters. One returning from Brazil, and one preparing to go to Brazil. Then a week later we found ourselves in one of the temples of the Lord, where last night Kenzie furthered her commitment and relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.

I am deeply excited and proud of Kenzie’s commitment to serve a mission, but in a way even more deeply excited and proud of the steps she took last night in this sacred place.

What a blessing it was for her to experience this at the same time as her cousin Jake, who is also preparing to depart on a mission to New York New York.

The youth of our world have choices to make with long-lasting and eternal significance. So many are choosing and seeking the Lord.

In our faith, children are raised looking to and loving to see the temple, with a desire to one day go inside to receive ordinances and make promises to the Father that will bind and strengthen their relationship with Him. Last night that moment came for two valiant youth, being fortified, uplifted, and strengthened for life and for the journey ahead as true disciples of Jesus Christ.

The recent passing of our dear prophet has me reflecting on these words and this promise:

“Here is my promise to you: Every sincere seeker of Jesus Christ will find Him in the temple. You will feel His mercy. You will find answers to your most vexing questions.”

All things in the temple point to Him. I am grateful for this promise and this opportunity for myself, but to see and witness my children find it to be true for themselves brings a joy beyond words.

The best is yet to come, Kenzie!!
