The Poor Have The Gospel Preached To Them = A Miracle.

This is part of a message I sent to my daughter Hallie, who’s serving her mission in Brazil.

I also send it to Kenzie, who is preparing for hers, and to Beckham and Savvy, who I know will one day join this great work.

In Matthew 11, Jesus is asked:

“Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?”

His answer?
Miracles.

“The blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised…”

Can you imagine seeing that?
The blind…seeing.
The lame…walking.
Even the dead…rising.

But then comes the final miracle:

“…and the poor have the gospel preached to them.”

That one gets me every time.
Because the gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest miracle of all.

It opens the door to every other miracle.
It changes hearts. Heals families. Brings hope. And leads us home to Him.

My greatest desire in life is to be part of that miracle, to let it work within me,
to teach my family to turn to Him, and to proclaim it to all He places in my path.

If there is one thing I am not ashamed of, it is the Gospel, the Good News, of Jesus Christ.

“For it is the power of God unto salvation.” Romans 1:16

So grateful for the miracle.
So grateful we can all experience it.
So grateful for Jesus Christ.

The “poor” are those who are willing to receive what the proud and self-sufficient often reject. The Gospel is offered to all, but it finds its greatest welcome in those who know their need and hunger for God.
