This morning, Jenna and I had the privilege of having breakfast with some very special friends, the Hills.

Just a few days ago, BJ, Brian’s incredible wife, shared this powerful message with close friends and family:

“Grateful for the past 10 days! Brain tumor blessings are real! Looking in someone’s eyes, quickly forgiving, not taking the contention bait, savoring time, and saying I’m sorry. There does seem to be a message ‘in EVERY mess!’”

On Christmas Day, we received a joyful “Merry Christmas” message from them, and everything seemed normal. Just days later, they shared that Brian had been hospitalized and diagnosed with a large brain tumor. Since then, he has endured two major surgeries and now faces chemo and radiation.

But this morning, as they welcomed us with big smiles, warm hugs, and gratitude in their hearts, I was reminded of what true strength, faith, and love look like.

Brian shared a powerful testimony as we finished breakfast, urging us all to hold tight to Jesus Christ. His words, his perspective, and the light in his eyes reflect someone whose love closely mirrors the Savior’s.

BJ’s words echo in my heart: “There does seem to be a message in every mess.”

The Hills have chosen to let God prevail, to love with joy despite their circumstances, and to share that love with everyone. Their example inspires me to hold fast to faith and to see God’s hand even in the hardest times.
