Hunting Day 5 (3rd Animal) : These high mountain regions are perfect for finding Big Eland Bulls. But man are they hard to hunt in this terrain. They sometimes stick out in the mtn like a sore thumb because of their color but it seems as though, so do we to them. They always seemed to have their eyes on us and were moving before giving us time to even plan our approach. 

It was Kenzie’s turn and she was excited but also feeling the pressure. When you have 11 other people there with you including a film crew the pressure is tough for anyone. 5 eland bulls were spotted in some very thick and steep terrain.  After stocking it for some time we had to split the group up so that we could move a little quicker in a smaller group. I went with Kenzie and our 3 PHs and it was a foot race to get into position. Most don’t know but Kenzie has asthma and she didn’t have her inhaler with us this day which made the fast hike, with steep ascents very difficult on her breathing. She had got a great shot off on the main bull and it had just pierces the dewlap (the neck meat hanging off the neck). After that first shot the bulls covered a lot of terrain and in order to close the deal we also had to follow. This was not an easy task and for a young lady with asthma it was very difficult. We stopped to get her breathing under control a few times and then found ourselves in a position that needed a quick shot to make it happen. I believe the shot was around 380 yards and while struggling to breath Kenzie placed a perfect shot, the bull ran 20 yards and was done. I ran Kenzie, tears in my eyes, tears in hers and tears on the eyes of our PHs as excitement and relief rushed over us. 

Kenzie did not think it was possible. Her confidence floundered but in the end she learned SHE COULD do hard things, she could shoot very well, she could #ConquerMore This is #howiconquer #conquermore #timeandattention #ilovekenzie2021
