“Good things come to those who wait” - On Friday I was able to give some #TimeAndAttention to my 13yr old Kenzie. She is awesome! We skied in the morning and ended the day at a Jazz game. After skiing in the morning even though we were so tired she wanted to go to the temple. For those who may not know, in our church we have very special buildings we call temples in which we participate in ordinances for ourselves and vicariously for our ancestors who have died without receiving these ordinances. One of these saving ordinances is baptism. When we arrived at the temple we found that there would be a 2.5 hour wait because of all the youth there to do baptisms (it is so awesome to see so many youth committed to doing the work of the Lord). I have to admit, I didn’t really want to wait, but I left the decision to Kenzie. She decided we should wait. .

There was a very special spirit about performing these ordinances and as we left the temple I told Kenzie that “good things come to those who wait.” Sometimes there are divine delays in life. Sometimes the wait is for the benefit of others who have waited much longer than our 2.5 hour wait, and oh how grateful I know these individuals and the Lord are for my Kenzie waiting a little longer. Some of those we performed ordinances for lived in the 1700’s and some in the 1800’s. Our simple 2.5 hour wait to do something so pivotal for these individuals who have been waiting much longer puts TIME into greater perspective for me. .

If we could only grasp what eternity truly means, we wouldn’t be in such a rush to move on from things and to things so quickly. It would do us good to slow our pace, reduce the rush, enjoy the time we are given and help others do the same. Be it bright or gray, Gods greatest gift is each new day.
