October 5th is World Teachers’ Day! Our education team is working hard to present in-person school programs to classes that can visit and also bring the museum to the classroom through virtual field trips and outreach programs. Now more than ever, we thank teachers for all that they do and we are incredibly thankful for those who have signed up for our school programs so far this year. 

We hope you take the time today to thank the teachers who have had a impact in your lives.

For today, Jared letterpress printed a message thanking teachers and discussed our school programs that we offer at the Sacramento History Museum. The message that was printed states, “Thank you, teachers!” and was typeset in 30 point Caslon font. Above the text is an image of a teacher standing in front of a class full of students. This photo engraving was recently acquired by Jared and the engraving was made 60-80 years ago. This was printed with a mix of red and opaque white rubber base ink (to make pink) using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852.
