nycmayor nycmayorsoffice, As Miss Supraglobal USA 2027, I am proud to present my Shelter Safety Plan for New York City — a plan built on dignity, protection, accountability, and real standards for women living in shelters.
1. Deep staff screening before hiring
Every staff member working around vulnerable women should pass deep background checks, verified references, and employment screening before their first shift.
2. Weekly checks — one borough a day
Manhattan on Monday. Brooklyn on Tuesday. Queens, Astoria & Long Island City on Wednesday. Bronx on Thursday. Every shelter. Every week. No exceptions.
3. An Ombudsman-led inspection team
Head staff, an analyst, two police officers, a health & sanitation inspector, a licensed social worker, and a District Attorney’s representative — safety, health, care, and legal accountability in one team.
4. Standards verified at every visit
No sexual assault. No staff abuse. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Beds sanitized before every new client. Fresh, non-expired food. No fighting between clients. Weekly camera review of hallways and lobbies to make sure everything is running smoothly.
Women in shelters are not invisible. They are mothers, daughters, survivors, workers, students, and future leaders. They deserve safety. They deserve cleanliness. They deserve protection. They deserve dignity.
This is what Beauty • Brains • Purpose looks like in action. 👑✨
