The aliens arrived after we’d already gone, and one of them still believes we‘ll come back.

They Came When We Left by Justinas Vosylius, named Film Winner at CapCut CRE[AI]TE AI Festival 2026, is a sci-fi short about a young alien named Nilo who pieces humanity together from the stories and objects it left behind.

Instead of spectacle, Justinas spent his iterations on small gestures, eyelines, and pauses, the hardest things to get right in an AI performance.
