REST IN PEACE TO ONE OF THE TOUGHEST MEN TO EVER STEP FOOT ON AN NFL FIELD. 🕊️💔

The football world has lost a true legend. Mike Ditka has passed away at the age of 86, his family confirmed Friday.

Before becoming the face of Chicago Bears football, Ditka was already changing the game as a player. He helped revolutionize the tight end position, became the first tight end inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and won championships as both a player and a coach.

But nothing will ever compare to what he built in Chicago. The legendary 1985 Bears went 15-1, dominated the playoffs, and destroyed the Patriots 46-10 in Super Bowl XX. Nearly four decades later, that team is still considered one of the greatest in NFL history.

They called him IRON MIKE for a reason. His toughness, passion, fiery personality, and love for football made him one of the most unforgettable figures this sport has ever seen.

Some coaches win championships. Others become the identity of an entire franchise. Mike Ditka did both.

Rest easy, Coach. Thank you for everything you gave this game. Forever a Chicago legend. 🕊️🐻
