One year ago today, JISOO & ZAYN released their collaboration, ‘EYES CLOSED.’

Production on 'EYES CLOSED' came from The Monsters & Strangerz, the brothers Stefan Johnson and Jordan Johnson, whose credits include Maroon 5's 'Memories,' Dua Lipa's 'Break My Heart,' and Justin Bieber's 'Anyone.' It's a soulful, tender pop ballad with a dreamy melody and pulsing synths that follows two people in the hesitant early days of a new romance. Songfacts likened its cinematic build to Zayn Malik's earlier duets like 'Dusk Till Dawn' and 'I Don't Wanna Live Forever,' while Kim Jisoo brings the soft melancholy of her solo debut 'Flower.'

The rollout moved fast. Jisoo shared a poster for the single on October 5, 2025, the pair confirmed the release two days before it dropped, and the song came out on October 10 through Blissoo and Warner Records. Frank Borin and Ivanna Borin directed the video, which premiered at midnight Eastern time. It casts the two as the only awakened passengers on a spaceship headed toward Saturn, drifting through zero gravity until they find each other mid-orbit. It arrived as Jisoo's follow-up to her 'Earthquake' era and as Zayn Malik's next release after 'Stardust.'

Critics welcomed the pairing. The Korean outlet IZM gave it three and a half out of five stars, praising its transparent, dreamy electronic sound and the pair's relaxed vocals. The song debuted at number 72 on the Billboard Hot 100, a milestone for Jisoo and for Blackpink as a group, and went on to become her second top-ten hit and Zayn Malik's first on one of its charts. Zayn Malik's 'Die for Me' in 2026 reunited him with The Monsters & Strangerz.
