🏳️‍🌈 Things we wish we knew as queer students at Penn State

Starting college can come with a lot of questions — especially when you’re figuring out where you fit in, finding community, and navigating your identity. Here are a few things we wish someone had told us sooner:

🏠 There are affirming housing options.
You don’t have to navigate the housing experience alone. Penn State offers resources and options designed to help LGBTQ+ students find a supportive living environment.

👕 The Clothing Transit is here for you.
Looking for clothing or accessories that better reflect your gender expression? The Clothing Transit provides gender-affirming clothing and accessories to students at no cost.

🏳️‍🌈 There are queer student organizations.
From identity-based groups to LGBTQ+ advocacy and social organizations, there are lots of ways to find community and meet people who share your experiences and interests.

💬 You can find people who get it.
Whether you’re looking for friendship, support, or simply a space where you don’t have to explain yourself, there are LGBTQ+ communities and resources across campus.

📚 There are resources specifically for you.
The Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity is here to help you find community, navigate campus, connect with resources, and feel more at home at Penn State.

And most importantly: you don’t have to figure everything out on your own. 💙
