🏳️‍🌈 QUEER HISTORY MONTH: HARVEY MILK 🏳️‍🌈

Throughout LGBTQ+ History Month, we’ll be highlighting queer historical icons whose lives, activism, and work helped shape the movement for LGBTQ+ rights and visibility.

First up: Harvey Milk. ✨

Harvey Milk was one of the first openly gay elected officials in the United States, serving on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in the late 1970s. Before and during his time in office, Milk advocated for LGBTQ+ rights, visibility, and representation, becoming a powerful voice for a community that was often pushed to the margins.

Milk understood the importance of LGBTQ+ people being visible — not simply for the sake of representation, but because visibility could help challenge prejudice and remind people that queer people were part of every community. His activism helped inspire generations of LGBTQ+ people to organize, speak up, and demand a seat at the table.

His life and legacy also remind us that progress is not inevitable. It is built by people who are willing to show up, speak out, and create change — work that continues today.

💜 This month, we’re honoring the people who came before us while recognizing our role in carrying their work forward.

Stay tuned throughout October as we highlight more queer icons, activists, artists, and community leaders who have shaped LGBTQ+ history. 🌈
