Today, we are crowning historian and educator Vicki L. Ruiz as our #QueenoftheWeek 👑

Throughout her career, Ruiz has focused on bringing stories and experiences of Mexican American and Latina women into the historical record. As co-editor of Latinas in the United States: A Historical Encyclopedia, she helped bring more than 580 historical and cultural narratives to life. Her contributions to history and education were recognized in 2015 when President Barack Obama awarded her the National Humanities Medal.

Ruiz has also dedicated herself to creating opportunities for the next generation. At UC Davis, she co-founded and directed a mentorship program connecting professors with women and students of color in underrepresented fields, helping open doors for future scholars.

Through her work, Ruiz celebrates the stories of Mexican American and Latina women, preserving their experiences and inspiring future generations to continue rewriting HER-story.

Thank you, Queen, for your dedication, and inspiring the next generation to keep rewriting HER-story. 💜 #SIXBroadway #SIXUSTour
