3 Mans for a Winter Jacket is INSANE‼️🤦🏾‍♂️😭

An Ottawa man was reportedly robbed of his $700 North Face jacket after arranging to sell it through Facebook Marketplace TODAY, October 10, 2026.

The incident allegedly took place near the Cineplex in the Bayshore area, where what was supposed to be a simple exchange reportedly turned into a robbery involving three individuals.

Police are asking anyone with information to reach out to them, however, This isn’t the first time a Facebook Marketplace transaction has taken a dangerous turn in Ottawa.

On August 10, 2026, a Marketplace meetup outside a bank in Manotick ended with two gunshots being fired after a young suspect allegedly attempted to rob a seller at gunpoint. Fortunately, nobody was struck by the gunfire, although the seller suffered minor injuries. The suspect was taken into custody.

Just one day earlier, on August 9, another Marketplace seller was reportedly robbed at gunpoint in Barrhaven after arranging to meet a buyer near Berrigan Drive and Beatrice Drive.

These incidents are raising serious concerns about the safety of buying and selling items online, particularly when meeting strangers to exchange expensive merchandise.

Ottawa Police have previously warned residents about robberies connected to online transactions and encourage people to use designated Safe Trade Zones outside select police stations.

What should be a quick and harmless exchange can turn into a dangerous situation. Residents are encouraged to avoid isolated meeting spots, bring someone along and never put their safety at risk over an item.
