Baby Loss Awareness Week 🤍

There’s a part of my story that very few people know about, and something I’ve kept private until now. Looking back through these pictures make me so emotional 😔.

Last year, I went through two miscarriages. The first was in March, just two days before I was due to fly to America for the Arnold Sports Festival. I’d found out I was pregnant two weeks earlier, and on the Monday, instead of preparing to compete, I was in hospital having a miscarriage.

Despite being in a lot of pain, I still got on that plane and competed. Looking back, I don’t think I had my wits about me that weekend. Maybe it even played a part in the whole “chalk gate” incident. People saw what happened at that competition, but they had no idea what I’d been through just days before.

Then, in October, I went through it all again.

Living with PCOS and the struggles that come with it has been incredibly difficult. I want to be a mum one day, when the time is right, and I genuinely believe I’d make an amazing one.

Sometimes I wonder what life would look like if I hadn’t lost those two babies. It’s hard not to think about what could have been.

I think this is an important part of understanding why last year was so difficult for me. People saw my performances and results, but they didn’t see what I was carrying behind the scenes. I’m not sharing this as an excuse, but because there was so much more going on than people realised.

We see the achievements and smiles on social media, but rarely the tears, grief and battles people are facing in private.

When the time is right and I meet the right person, I hope I get the chance to become a mum. Who knows, maybe one day there’ll be a future World’s Strongest Woman or World’s Strongest Man running around because of me. 🤍

For now, I’m focusing on myself and building the future I want.

To anyone who has experienced baby loss, I’m sending you so much love.

Please be kind. You never know what someone is going through behind closed doors. 🤍
