🇹🇭 Thailand’s Queen Suthida just made history by flying a Saab JAS 39C Gripen fighter jet completely solo for 41 minutes!

The 48-year-old Queen took off from Royal Thai Air Force Wing 7 on October 8, becoming Thailand’s first female Gripen pilot.

Unlike a passenger flight, she was completely alone in the cockpit of the single-seat Swedish-built fighter jet, which is capable of reaching speeds exceeding Mach 2.

Before taking control, she completed 45 academic and emergency-procedure subjects, 20 simulator sessions, and approximately 10 hours of flight training in a two-seat Gripen.

She was already an experienced aviator, with more than 1,188 logged flight hours across aircraft including the Boeing 737 and several military trainers.

Her husband, King Maha Vajiralongkorn, watched from the military base before presenting her with flowers and a prestigious Golden Gripen Order patch after landing.

The achievement marked the culmination of her fighter conversion training, taking her from commercial and training aircraft into the cockpit of a supersonic military jet.
