Just a battery replacement dawg😭🔧 This is what “just replace the battery” can look like on a modern luxury car.
⠀
On some Mercedes SUVs, the 12-volt battery is buried beneath the front seat, meaning a basic maintenance item can require removing trim, ducting, carpet and even the seat itself just to gain access.
⠀
There are legitimate packaging and weight-distribution reasons manufacturers place components in unusual locations, but designs like this also show why repairing newer cars can demand far more labor, specialized tools and technical information than older vehicles.
⠀
That broader complexity has become part of the right-to-repair debate, with independent mechanics and owners pushing for continued access to the software, diagnostics, parts and service information needed to fix increasingly computerized cars.
⠀
So while this battery placement alone is not proof that a manufacturer is intentionally blocking repairs, it perfectly illustrates why a simple DIY job can become much harder than enthusiasts expect.
⠀
Would you still work on your own cars if repairs keep getting this complicated?
⠀
What are your thoughts? 🤔💭
