A contemporary extension to a Victorian house doesn’t necessarily have to be a glass box.

For this project, we took inspiration from the Italianate Victorian architecture of the surrounding streets, particularly the beautiful arched openings that are so characteristic of the area.

We carried those arches through into the new extension, using traditional brickwork alongside slender black metal glazing. We wanted the addition to have a strong connection to the original house, while being quite clearly contemporary in its own right.

And pleasingly, the design went through planning remarkably quickly.
