Faster AI. Less included usage. Both can be true.

OpenAI’s email to affected Pro 200 subscribers says that from 30 October 2026, Work/Codex allowance falls from 20× to 10× Plus, and GPT-6 Pro in Chat falls from 200 to 100 messages a week. The monthly price remains $200 USD.

Better models may reduce rework. That matters. But speed alone doesn’t prove you’ll finish more work for the same money. Work/Codex usage varies with model, task and settings; the multiplier is not a fixed task count.

The email also offers a one-time 62,500-credit grant (stated $2,500 usage value), expiring 31 December. Check your own Settings → Usage: this isn’t cash and credits don’t cover every feature.

My suggestion: compare completed jobs, quality, rework and allowance used over comparable weeks. Keep model/speed settings consistent. Decide whether to upgrade from your results, not the headline speed claim.

The email says current limits continue through 29 October and commits to not reintroducing the five-hour limit for this offer. Generic help pages still discuss five-hour windows for some plans: check your account’s actual terms.

Independent commentary. Not affiliated with OpenAI. Prices in USD before applicable taxes; account eligibility can vary.

Save this guide. What matters more to you: faster responses or more room to work?
