People LOVE the idea of “AUTHENTICITY” until somebody starts being AUTHENTIC. 🥴

Until they actually say how they REALLY feel. 
Choose what they REALLY want. 
Or publicly experience something that doesn’t match the version of them you’ve created in your head.

See, sometimes we don’t actually want authenticity. We want CONSISTENCY. We want people to remain who WE know them to be.

I know because I’ve lived it.

I’m the bright, bubbly chick. Always laughing, encouraging, and showing up for everybody. But let me get quiet, stressed, depressed, or emotionally overwhelmed and suddenly folks are CONFUSED.

“That’s not like you!”

Well, WHO said that wasn’t me? Or did you just get comfortable with the version of me that made you feel SEEN?

People are allowed to have unfamiliar emotional experiences without being labeled as a DIFFERENT person.

And that brings me to today’s EQ lesson. 🎓

SOCIAL AWARENESS 

It’s the ability to recognize and understand the emotions, needs, and experiences of others, even when they don’t match your expectations.

Here’s something to practice: The next time someone’s behavior surprises you, replace “What’s wrong with them?” with “What might they be experiencing that I don’t understand?”

Because sometimes what you call someone “being weird ” is simply someone being HUMAN.
