oliver and jordana are the definition of awkward teenage love in the best way possible. Plot: Submarine (2010) follows Oliver Tate (Craig Roberts), an awkward and imaginative teenager growing up in Wales who becomes determined to accomplish two things: save his parents’ struggling marriage and begin a relationship with his classmate Jordana Bevan (Yasmin Paige). After Oliver and Jordana start dating, he becomes completely consumed by their unconventional relationship while simultaneously worrying that his mother Jill (Sally Hawkins) may be reconnecting with an old flame, Graham (Paddy Considine). As Oliver tries to control situations far beyond his understanding, he begins learning that relationships, family, and growing up are much more complicated than he imagined. Submarine is a quirky coming-of-age story about first love, insecurity, loneliness, and trying to understand yourself while navigating the messiness of the people around you.
