Your Past Doesn’t Get to Decide Your Future. 🥊🎭

Wood Harris (born October 17, 1969) is an American actor best known for his roles in The Wire, Remember the Titans, Paid in Full, and the Creed film franchise. In Creed III (2023), directed by Michael B. Jordan, Harris portrays Tony “Little Duke” Evers, the longtime boxing trainer and mentor of Adonis Creed, played by Michael B. Jordan. Throughout the film, Duke serves as a voice of discipline, wisdom, and accountability, helping Adonis confront the emotional struggles that have followed him from his childhood into adulthood.

In this powerful scene from Creed III, Wood Harris delivers an emotional motivational speech to Adonis Creed as he prepares to face Damian Anderson, portrayed by Jonathan Majors. Duke challenges Adonis to confront the fear, guilt, and unresolved experiences that have been holding him back. His words reveal that the greatest battles in life are not always physical. Sometimes they are the internal struggles we carry long after the moment has passed. The scene explores the importance of mental strength, overcoming adversity, self-forgiveness, and finding the courage to move forward without allowing your past to control your future.

There comes a point in life when you have to stop punishing yourself for things you cannot change. For the mistakes you made, the people you lost, the opportunities that slipped away, and the version of yourself you wish you could have been.

You are allowed to become someone greater than the person your past remembers.

You cannot change what happened to you. But you can change what happens next.
