Central Park's iconic horse-drawn carriages may soon be a thing of the past. NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani and City Council Speaker Julie Menin have backed a new bill, named after a teenage tourist who died earlier this year after being bucked off of one of the carriages, that would end the practice beginning in 2028 Animal advocates have long called for an end to the carriages citing repeated instances of horses fainting or dying due to long, hot days in the Central Park. The NYC city council will vote on the bill next week. #mamdani #nyc #news #horses
