Mohammed Srour, a 15-year-old from Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, used to practice gymnastics and swimming.⁣

But in June 2026, his life changed when a suspicious object left behind from Israeli military activity exploded, resulting in the amputation of both his legs, limited movement in one hand and loss of sight in one eye.⁣
⁣
Mohammed has yet to receive prosthetic limbs. He has a medical referral for treatment outside Gaza, but is still waiting for permission to leave for treatment and prosthetic fitting.⁣
⁣
A staggering 25% of all Gazans who have lost limbs during this conflict are children, creating a generation of young amputees facing permanent disability. ⁣
