## Caption

Grinders and dry vegetation don’t mix.

Sparks from powered grinders have been linked to at least three recent California wildfires. In two recent cases, arrests have been made in connection with the fires, and starting a fire with a grinder can be considered arson.

The safest option is to move grinding work away from dry vegetation and onto a cleared, noncombustible area. If the work cannot be moved, clear away dry grass, leaves and other combustible material; have water and a fire extinguisher immediately available; and avoid working during hot, dry or windy conditions.

If a fire starts, call 911 immediately.
