The incredible light was captured by French photographer Florian Riu, who specializes in capturing extreme weather and atmospheric anomalies. He managed to capture sprites over the picturesque village of Montemaggioire, located on the island of Corsica. The images, which instantly went viral online, resemble alien silhouettes. 

The red sprites are high-altitude electrical discharges of ionized air, which were long considered a myth among pilots until they were first captured on video in 1989. 

The most impressive thing is that on the photo it appears as if the red discharges burst directly over the roofs of houses, but in reality they formed 500–700 kilometers from the filming location, with the epicenter being a powerful storm in the Barcelona area. #corsica #sky #french #cosmic #space
