MAGIC MUSHROOMS

I woke up and the yard had something to say. 🍄

Mushrooms. Popped Up. Overnight.

Not in the front yard like my neighbors, not across the back yard, but right where I’ve started this journey — right by the pools edge.

Magic Mushrooms Overnight.

Here’s the science/logic: mycelium, a web of threads living quietly underground, sometimes for years, breaking down old roots, fallen leaves, buried wood. Turning what’s finished into nourishment. Then the rain comes (or sprinklers), the air stays warm and damp, and it decides it’s time. Mushrooms can appear in a matter of hours because the cells were already formed.

Now here’s what my spirit heard:

The work was happening the whole time. I just couldn’t see it.

All that quiet. All that composting of what didn’t make it, the old stories, the old versions of me, the seasons that ended. None of it was wasted. It was becoming the ground for what’s next. And when conditions are right, it shows up all at once, and everybody calls it overnight.

It was never overnight.

Mushrooms have long been read as signs of rebirth, transformation, and hidden connection, a reminder that we’re all linked by roots we can’t see. Some say a circle of them is a doorway. I say it’s an invitation to the new me. Trust the process, Mara.
