Entravision AHORA, a new Spanish-language news streaming service, is facing backlash after launching LIA, an AI-generated Latina newscaster.

The news outlet says LIA, which stands for Latina Inteligencia Artificial, is meant to complement reporters’ work, not replace them. However, people across social media are not having it, saying that LIA trivializes the hard work of real Latina journalists, who have to put in twice the work to move up in journalism.

Would you watch an AI-generated Latina news anchor?
