THROWBACK: January 28th, 1996 at The Big Day Out Tour, Melbourne, Australia. So check it, I got a call from my bro boylecustommoto back in 1995 he was the team manager of airwalk at the time. He said, hey we want you to go to Australia for three weeks to do this tour for Airwalk called The Big Day Out Tour. It’s just gonna be you and tonyhawk shredding the ramp. I was like rad, 3 weeks? Awesome let’s go, oh and like what is the event like? This is before the internet is what it is today, I couldn’t just google for info 😝 He’s like dude I hope you’re ready to rock because it’s a traveling music tour with rageagainstthemachine rancid pornoforpyros theprodigyofficial and so many more bands and they have a vert ramp. What???? See at that time I was doing state fairs nonstop all over the USA. And state fair shows was the biggest shows to do back then, and we would do 4 choreographed shows a day with flatland, box jump and a vert ramp set up in between the ferris wheel and the pig races, with small crowds of people eating turkey legs watching us do some of the gnarliest tricks 😂 it was fun and hardcore work at the same time, but after 12 years of state fairs I was over it and ready for something bigger…So yeah I went from the state fair circuit to a vert ramp in the middle of 30 thousand people next to the main stage while RATM would be ripping while we ride!!!! No more pig races 😆 And to having my own room, wtf? In a 5 star hotel with the Jacuzzi in the living room on Bondi Beach eating crab legs 😳 and shredding to some of the biggest crowds and bands in the world?
