Dall’Ara 1997: The Six-Goal Showcase as O Fenômeno Opened His Inter Account
On 14 September 1997, 36,267 spectators at a rain-soaked Stadio Renato Dall'Ara witnessed a 1990s Serie A masterclass. Round 2 brought together Luigi Simoni’s Inter Milan and Renzo Ulivieri’s Bologna, delivering a six-goal spectacle headlined by Roberto Baggio, Youri Djorkaeff, and Ronaldo Nazário’s first official goal in Nerazzurro.

Ronaldo: The First of 59
Following a quiet debut against Brescia, Ronaldo ignited his Inter career in the 52nd minute. Collecting a pass from Youri Djorkaeff on the edge of the area, the Brazilian sold former teammate Massimo Paganin an instant right-foot dummy before lashing a low left-footed finish past Alex Brunner at the near post. The strike was his 1st official goal for the club, launching a tally that reached 59 goals across 99 competitive appearances for Inter.
Roberto Baggio: The Dall’Ara Maestro
Reborn in Bologna’s number 10 shirt, Roberto Baggio fought relentlessly to keep the Rossoblù within touching distance. Il Divin Codino curled home a vintage 44th-minute free-kick past former teammate Gianluca Pagliuca, then converted a 58th-minute penalty after Igor Kolyvanov was brought down. Baggio finished the afternoon with 2 goals, 1 direct free-kick, 1 converted penalty, spearheading a historic personal campaign that eventually earned him an Italian World Cup recall for France '98.

Youri Djorkaeff: The French Playmaker’s Masterclass
Youri Djorkaeff dictated Inter’s offensive transitions throughout the torrential downpour. After delivering the corner for Fabio Galante’s 12th-minute opener and setting up Ronaldo’s strike, Djorkaeff produced the match’s aesthetic highlight in the 66th minute, collecting a feed from Diego Simeone to chip a sublime lob over Brunner. Djorkaeff closed the clash with 1 goal, 2 assists, 83 minutes played, sealing Inter’s 4–2 victory on a classic Italian afternoon.
