The two remaining unbeaten teams in Big Ten play meet Saturday night as No. 1 Nebraska hosts No. 7 Wisconsin in a Blackout at the Devaney Center. Segment is from NTV's Big Red Rundown

Nebraska enters 16-0 overall and 5-0 in conference play, while Wisconsin is 11-4 and also 5-0 in the Big Ten. First serve is set for 6 p.m. on FOX.

The Huskers have won four straight matches against the Badgers after Wisconsin swept Nebraska in a top-five matchup on Nov. 24, 2023. Nebraska owns a 24-14-1 edge in the all-time series.

Saturday offers a chance for Nebraska to extend several major streaks. The Huskers have won 47 consecutive regular-season matches, a run dating to late in the 2024 season, and have won 55 straight regular-season home matches at the Devaney Center. Nebraska’s 23-match road and neutral-site winning streak will not be on the line, but its dominance at home will be tested by perhaps its most battle-tested opponent of the season.

Wisconsin has faced ranked competition in 12 of its 15 matches. The Badgers are coming off a three-set road sweep at No. 24 Illinois on Thursday, winning 25-18, 25-19, 25-22. Wisconsin hit .361 in the match, held Illinois to .176 and finished with six aces and eight team blocks.

Audrey Flanagan led the Badgers with 12 kills against Illinois, while setter Charlie Fuerbringer had 31 assists. Wisconsin also got nine kills apiece from Jaela Auguste and Eva Travis.

Nebraska enters after its own road sweep Thursday, defeating No. 15 Indiana 25-15, 25-19, 25-19 to improve to 16-0. The Huskers hit .379 and totaled five aces in the victory.

Harper Murray led Nebraska with 11 kills and added seven digs. Teraya Sigler had 10 kills on .389 hitting, Andi Jackson added nine kills on .471 hitting and Manaia Ogbechie had eight kills on .500 hitting. Bergen Reilly returned to the lineup with 35 assists and seven digs after missing the previous match at Maryland, while Olivia Mauch led the backcourt with 10 digs.

The matchup pits Nebraska’s all-around statistical edge against a Wisconsin team accustomed to high-level competition. The Huskers lead the Big Ten in hitting percentage at .326 and opponent hitting percentage at .101. Nebraska is averaging 13.86 kills per set while holding opponents to nine kills per set.

Wisconsin is averaging 13.78 kills per set and ranks third in the conference with 13.09 assists per set. But the Badgers’ opponent hitting percentage of .220 ranks near the bottom of the league, an area Nebraska’s attack could look to exploit.

Serving may be a decisive factor. Nebraska has 104 aces this season and ranks second in the Big Ten at 2.04 aces per set. Wisconsin has 69 aces and averages 1.28 per set. The Huskers have also allowed fewer than one ace per set, providing a key advantage in serve receive against a Wisconsin team that will need to create pressure in a loud road environment.

Jackson, the reigning two-time Big Ten Player of the Week, continues to anchor Nebraska in the middle. She averaged 3.83 kills and 2.00 blocks per set in last week’s wins over Penn State and Maryland, including 12 kills, six aces and five blocks against Maryland.

Nebraska has reached 20 points first in all 45 sets this season and is 141-0 in sets under coach Dani Busboom Kelly when getting to the red zone first. The Huskers will try to continue that trend Saturday against a Badger team that has lost only four times despite its demanding schedule.

One team will leave the Devaney Center with its first Big Ten loss. The other will take sole possession of first place in the conference race.
