35 countries on a solo flight? That's so Bonanza!

75 years ago this week, congressman Peter Mack left on a solo goodwill flight to 35 countries in a Beechcraft 35 Bonanza. The aircraft was renamed "Friendship Flame" for the flight. The journey, a global dialogue and peace mission, provided a glimpse of a post-WWII world and made international headlines. 

The Beechcraft Bonanza that Mack flew on his goodwill flight is in our collection and on display in the "One World Connected" exhibition at our Museum in DC.
