Imagine you’re out with your friends when you see a sign that reads, “Bowling Tournament Here.” Your first thought might be: Wait… bowling is an actual sport?!

For the Bowie State women’s bowling team, the answer is quite simple: yes. But how good are they?

Behind the lanes, the Bulldogs put in hours of practice, physical preparation, and mental work to compete at the collegiate level. After finishing second in the conference last season, the team is working toward its next goal: winning a championship and earning a spot in the national tournament. Despite a small roster and a limited budget, the Bulldogs remain focused on improving their game and competing at a higher level.

From the team’s journey into competitive bowling to the challenges they face throughout the season, their story highlights the dedication and determination behind a sport that often goes overlooked. So the next time you see a bowling tournament, maybe the question isn’t whether bowling is a sport, but just how good these Bulldogs can become.
