## Caption

My newest "United Plates of America" passion project combines my appreciation of license plates and love for well-researched designs. I will be redesigning the license plates in all U.S. states and territories, giving each one a completely new design based on a state's sights and license plate histories 🚘

To start off this series, here is my redesign of California's license plates!

California's 1995 "Lipstick" license plates are pretty classic, but I've always found them to be quite plain. My revamped California plate is simple (so not to favor a single part of this large, diverse state); it uses the state's unofficial colors of blue and gold as well as the Art Deco-style font of the "Sunset" plates from the 1980s

The standard plate then provides a consistent design system for the rest of the specialty plates. Many of these specialty plates are simple carry-overs from the state's existing selection of specialties, but I have added a new series of sports and collegiate license plates
