Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 people at Fort Hood in 2009, is set to be executed by firing squad on December 3, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says the public will be able to watch. The UN human rights office says broadcasting an execution would breach the prohibition of torture, and critics at home, including a former counterterrorism official who believes Hasan deserves the death penalty, say the broadcast goes too far.
