I had a whole post planned after we went to our New Year festival here in Cali but then, the shooting in Monterey CA happened. A mostly AAPI community, where WE VISIT almost every week had a devastating shooting after a New Year festival. Whatever the reason, I felt is upset that something happened so close to my home and affected people of my culture on one of the most important holidays. This made me feel even more motivation to become a leader in the AAPI community and be a change-maker for people who feel attacked and have no voice.

Since the start of the year, we learned so much more about the NIL Space. We learned that some of the companies that have been created to help athletes monetize their own NILs are just monetizing for themselves. There are 250 collectives and only 34% of deals go to female athletes ‼️Only a handful of athletes at each school are even marketed by their collective🚨We wanted the NIL so athletes could make money for themselves, not so more businesses could make money off the athletes. 
 
This is why this space NEEDS education. Companies are only concerned about the TOP athletes,  their “money makers”, and ROI. If athletes don’t educate and advocate for themselves, they will NOT leverage their NIL! No one is looking out for you. Athletics is a business and you need to build YOURS! ✊🏼
