He started college at 10 years old and was a professor by 18, breaking a record that had stood for over 300 years.

Nathan Thomas began taking classes at Miami Dade College at age 10, earned his bachelor’s in electrical engineering at 16 and finished his master’s by 18. At 18 years and 346 days old, he became the world’s youngest male professor, teaching a C programming class for engineers.

He beat a record set in 1717 by Scottish mathematician Colin Maclaurin, who became a professor at 19. Thomas is now studying law, aiming to specialise in intellectual property for science and technology.
