## Caption

This famous Apollo 11 photograph contains an extraordinary perspective. Michael Collins took the photograph while orbiting the Moon alone inside the command module Columbia, while Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were inside the lunar module below. The lunar module is visible against the Moon's surface, with Earth appearing in the distance. Because Collins was behind the camera, he is the only human who had lived at that point who was not physically visible in the frame.
