dominic fike released the 'don't forget about me, demos' 8 years ago today ☀️💿

this was the project that catapulted dom into signing a $4 million record deal after a long label bidding war, and the craziest fact is that it was released while he was in jail

since then the song '3 nights' became a cult classic within a few years of its release, and 'babydoll' had a recent resurgence which leaves both tracks at over 1 billion streams on spotify

there truly isn't a bad song on the entire EP though, and it captures such a specific time in dom's life... he was on house arrest at a friends place, making music whenever he was inspired, and so on

i've always felt the 'don't forget about me, demos' is a perfect project because there is no wasted space, there are pop bangers, as well as deep cut emotional tracks like 'king of everything'

whether you've been a fan of dom's since then, or if you're a newcomer to the group, we can all agree that this is a masterpiece of the highest order 🫂
