On 2 January 2020, Boris Johnson shared a rather optimistic post on X, writing:

"This is going to be a fantastic year for Britain."

Little did anyone know that just weeks later, the UK would record its first confirmed cases of COVID-19, before entering its first national lockdown on 23 March.

Schools closed to most pupils, pubs and restaurants shut their doors, and millions of Brits were told to stay at home as the pandemic changed everyday life.
