🥂 Cheers to Nobel laureate Michael Woodford! Surrounded by family members, friends, students, President Jennifer L. Mnookin and University colleagues, as well as well-wishers, including fellow Nobel laureates Joseph Stiglitz and Martin Chalfie, Woodford had an important group to thank.

“A number of students of mine are here,” Woodford said with a smile. “A lot of what I have done has only been possible thanks to my students, because it was hard for me to work these things out except by trying to explain them to people and having students who are willing to put up with that. It is essential to the intellectual process, at least in my case. I’ve been gratified that many went on to have distinguished careers and I hope I have some responsibility for that, but, really, I’m grateful just to have had them as students. That’s really been essential to me.”
