## Caption

Vivek Ramaswamy’s latest ad for Ohio governor was supposed to be about property taxes. It features Patty Edwards, an Amherst woman worried about losing her family farm, and her husband Vernon, who appears in the b-roll several times.

As The Bulwark first reported, Vernon Edwards is a registered sex offender. In 2006, he pleaded guilty to two counts of gross sexual imposition involving a girl under 13 and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

The campaign says it had no prior knowledge and has removed him from the ad. It also quietly deleted the social video he appeared in. At least one Republican state representative who shared it did the same.

His name shows up in the county sex offender registry at the same address as Patty’s. According to The Bulwark, a simple Google search would have shown him in his registry photo wearing what looks like the same patriotic shirt Ramaswamy complimented him on at the fair.

Ramaswamy is asking Ohioans to trust his judgment.
