## Caption

When a mourning dove with the full-throated singing of a professional tenor moved onto writer Alex Aciman's windowsill, he found it difficult to appreciate the bird's charm. Each sunrise was heralded by the taunting hoots of Bruce, who stared through the window and vandalized the walls. As a longtime bird nerd, Alex set out to to answer the question of what to do when a songbird becomes your new neighbor. Of course, there's the matter of bird law. If your feathered friend has already started laying eggs, there’s a good chance that it legally cannot be removed, due to the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918.
