Step right up! 🎤

Behind every midway light, thrilling ride and fair tradition are the people who make it all happen. Our Midway Mavericks series spotlights the bold personalities and behind-the-scenes stars of the statefairoftx, and few voices are as recognizable as Andy Mullins.

Andy has been the fair’s Midway Barker since 2004, carrying on an old-school carnival tradition of calling in the crowds. Six shows a day, 24 days straight, 144 shows a season, and no two are ever the same. Some fairgoers have been trying to figure out his act for years. 👀

We asked Andy about the secret to working a crowd, the time his photo landed a two-page spread in National Geographic, and his tips for first-timers:
🤠 Don’t miss Big Tex in person
🧇 Explore the food beyond the fried favorites, from Belgian waffles to fruity desserts
🎡 Short on time? Pick a couple of experiences and do them right

Catch his show before the fair wraps Oct. 18. Tap the link in bio for the full interview.
