IN CONVERSATION WITH TORIAEZOO

The Art of Making the Familiar Unfamiliar

What happens when the ordinary becomes just unfamiliar enough to change the way we see it?

In our latest AI/CC interview, we step into the quietly surreal world of Toriaezoo, our October 2026 Featured Artist from Japan.

Through minimalism, playful experimentation, and an unexpected sense of discomfort, Toriaezoo transforms everyday objects into intriguing visual compositions. Her work explores the delicate relationship between familiarity and surprise, revealing how even the smallest transformation can challenge our perception.

Guided by curiosity rather than predetermined meanings, she embraces the possibilities of artificial intelligence while maintaining a distinctly human perspective on creativity.

In this conversation, Toriaezoo reflects on her artistic journey, the influences shaping her visual language, her creative process, and the importance of experimentation in an increasingly technology-driven artistic landscape.

At the heart of her practice lies a beautifully simple philosophy:

“Just try it. Don’t overthink it, and focus on what feels interesting to you.”

A reminder that creativity doesn't always begin with answers. Sometimes, it begins with curiosity.
