Pat Spencer went from playing D1 Lacrosse to becoming a pro basketball player! 🤯

Pat Spencer played four years of lacrosse at Loyola Maryland from 2016-2019. He set several records, including the NCAA Division I mark for all-time assists (231) and the Patriot League record for career points (380).

The Davidsonville, Md. native could have went pro in lacrosse, but decided to pursue his first love of basketball.

While playing lacrosse, Pat played basketball in the summer and stayed sharp in the sport by playing in the Annapolis Summer League at Truxtun Park.

When he graduated from Loyola, Spencer used an extra year of eligibility to switch sports and play basketball at Northwestern. He averaged 10.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game across 31 contests (29 starts).

Unfortunately, the pandemic canceled the remainder of the season, but Spencer continued to train before making the decision to join the Hamburg Towers in Germany towards the end of their season.

He played in five games — averaging 9.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals. Although it was short-lived, Spencer said he appreciated the chance to play.

“That was my first professional setting,” Spencer said in a 2021 interview with the Baltimore Sun. “Being able to adjust on the fly and pick up a new system was beneficial for me.”

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Spencer returned to America and earned a tryout with the Washington Wizards. He turned that into an opportunity to go to training camp with the Capital City Go-Go of the G-League and ending up making the roster.

On January 11, 2022, Pat scored a career-high 18 points while playing against the Lakeland Magic.

Now Spencer will be making his TBT Debut this summer with thecititeam! 🔥
