## Caption

The Turkey oak, “Quercus cerris,” is a large, ornamental shade tree native to Southeast Europe and Southwestern Asia. It is found on some of our properties, but is not widely available from nurseries. So Jeff Curtis, Director of Gardens and Landscapes, has been cultivating them from acorns. Here Jeff holds a potted seedling with a more mature Turkey oak behind him in the cutting garden area of our greenhouse property.
