## Caption

Talk about the luck of the Irish! James Graham Fair (photo), a native of County Tyrone, didn’t find a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, but he did find a whole lot of silver in Nevada. One day in 1873, Fair and a partner, another Irish immigrant, saw a thin vein of silver ore in an existing mine. It was “The Big Bonanza,” a body of gold and silver ore that would be worth over a billion dollars today. Fair’s daughter, Tessie Oelrichs would inherit a share of his fortune and build a “summer cottage” to host parties at Newport. That cottage is Rosecliff.
